Redesigning a Watershed Report

By November 27, 2021

In 2020 and 2021, we worked with Brown University to design the second edition of its Slavery and Justice Report. First released in 2006, this important publication reckoned with the school’s historical ties to slavery, spurring transformation on campus and inspiring similar introspection at other institutions. The second edition was released in print and as a digital publication, expanding on the original with further context and commentary from faculty, staff and alumni.

This new edition made an unflinching examination of the progress that was achieved in the 15 years since the first edition was published and acknowledged all that is left to be done in making progress toward true equity.
